It was my birthday yesterday, and I got some real nice stuff for sure, but the best of it was the quality time I got to spend with my dear friends. No really, and not just the ones that gave me stuff, neither. I heart them lots and lots.

j-love

A big shout-out to my homegirl Janis, who's down with the birthday tip today. Nothing but mad love to ya, girlfriend, straight up. You so fly!

Which, if you're not hooked on ebonics, loosely translates to: "Happy Birthday to my best friend Janis. Love ya lots. You're the best!"

international institute of the obvious

It's no wonder no one has found a cure for cancer or AIDS yet, when scientists are spending their time proving things like this.

I can't wait for the groundbreaking study that proves water is wet, or something equally obvious.

the naked truth

What is up with all the naked men in my dreams lately? Wednesday night, the scenario involved me making out with one on my sofa when my mom walked in, which didn't give me pause, but the arrival of my entire extended family shortly thereafter did. (See, I do have some shame.) Then last night, I was walking through the streets of Fictional Dream City when a very naked, bald, friendly fellow named Jerome decided to tag along. I inquired as to his state of undress, and he said he just wanted to see how long he could walk about that way before someone noticed or protested. Soon a group of people approached and Jerome disappeared, but then I realized he was hiding behind me. Later, Jerome vanished completely and was replaced by a nameless, clothed companion who ultimately proved far more unbalanced than Jerome, and I found myself missing my impish naked friend.

On second thought, maybe it's best that we don't analyze that.

Tons of Tallulah on Google, none of it me, but I do find these alternaTallulahs amusing:

lookin' for love

I've been thinking about what I want for my birthday this year, and naturally my thoughts turned to what we all want, deep down (besides junk food, huge piles of cash, and mind-blowing, gratuitous sex): Love. But like most people, I wonder: How does one recognize Love, and will I know it when I see it? Well wonder no more!

what's in a name?

Some folks think Tallulah is kind of a goofy name, and my ex-boyfriend said it reminded him of some kind of booze (I think it was Tullamore Dew, and it's probably only appropriate to associate me with hard alcohol), but here is what a friend of mine had to say about it in a totally unpaid endorsement:

"I really like Tallulah. It makes me think of nature, being outside, in a field or maybe by a waterfall. It's a very fresh and refreshing name. It comes on strong at the beginning, has a melodic note in the middle and ends in a gentle sigh. It's a totally feminine name."
Isn't that nice? Not bad for a name I pulled off the top of my head as a joke 5 years ago.
