I believe I've discovered the Secret to Happiness, and it is this: Whatever brings a smile to your face, laughter to your lips, joy to your heart, no matter how small or ridiculous, run with it. Some things that are doing the trick for me:
- The truly surprising surprise birthday party my adorable friends threw for me. (And if you weren't invited, please know I had nothing to do with that, and was probably wishing you were there...even if you're a complete stranger who just happens to be reading this webpage.)
- The flowers I got for my birthday (I love getting flowers!) still look perfect a week later.
- Bubble Gum Blizzards at Dairy Queen - haven't tried one yet, it's enough just to know they exist.
- My solid, sturdy IBM Thinkpad, with its perfect-for-me keyboard. Actually it's my work computer, but no matter - it's a pleasure to use, especially compared to my crappy Compaq.
- Finding clips of a favorite TV show online, clips that I'd videotaped but then foolishly recorded over years ago.
- A summer that's only had a few really humid days, so my hair has never been quite as awful as it can be.
- Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. I actually get giddy when it comes on.
- Hilariously bad David Hasselhoff videos.
- My perfect red pedicure that was administered in a massage chair. Oh, yes.
- The Google Toolbar. I have no idea how or why I went so long without it. It makes searches even easier, it blocks popups, it is divine.
- $240 worth of pudding.
And I will most certainly be adding more to this list in the future. Believe it, my baby.
